Lions coach Matt Patricia will have a familiar face joining the defense in Detroit.

According to multiple reports Authentic Oscar Fantenberg Jersey , linebacker Marquis Flowers will sign with the Lions. Flowers was cut by the Patriots, who employed Patricia as defensive coordinator until he was hired by the Lions, over the weekend.

Flowers was a Bengals sixth-round pick in 2014 and was traded to the Patriots before last season. He played just over a quarter of the defensive snaps and was a regular on special teams while appearing in every game. Flowers finished the regular season with 32 tackles, 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

The Lions currently have six linebackers on their 53-man roster and Flowers will join defensive lineman Ricky Jean Francois as 2017 Patriots defenders who have made the move to Detroit this offseason.

SAN DIEGO — Padres manager Andy Green says make nothing of the statistic. The only thing that’s important is that the Padres will be going for a series win Sunday in the rubber match of a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Petco Park.

But here’s the stat. The Padres lost Friday night’s series opener to the Pirates — marking the 18th time in the last 19 series that the Padres have lost the opening game in the series.

Saturday night they held onto a 4-3 win to improve to 14-5 in the second game of their last 19 series. Going into Sunday Johnny Gaudreau Jersey Kids , they are 11-7 in the third game.

“I don’t put much into that first game of a series statistic,” Green said Saturday. “I think it’s just one of those things that you don’t make too big a deal out of. The goal is to win the series and we have Tyson (Ross) on the mound for the rubber game.”

The right-handed Ross (5-5, 3.32 earned run average) will be opposing Pittsburgh right-hander Jameson Taillon (5-6, 3.96 ERA) in Sunday afternoon’s rubber match.

The 32-year-old Ross has been the Padres most reliable pitcher this season. The Padres are 11-5 when he starts (including a 7-2 record over his last nine starts) Authentic Nail Yakupov Jersey , although they have failed to score a run for him the last three times he has started.

Ross has not allowed more than three runs in his last nine starts and he has gone five or more innings in his last 11 starts. Over his last two outings, Ross has allowed three runs on nine hits and six walks in 13 innings. And his ERA over those past nine starts is 3.08.

Ross has already made one successful start against the Pirates this season. On May 18 in Pittsburgh, Ross held Pittsburgh to two runs on five hits and four walks with two strikeouts over six innings to get credit for the win in a 3-2 Padres victory.

Sunday will be Ross’ seventh career appearance against the Pirates. In six previous starts, Ross has a 2-2 record and a 3.24 ERA. Another thing Ross has going for him Sunday is Petco Park. He has a career 2.91 ERA in the Padres’ downtown home in 53 games (44 starts).

Taillon Colton Sissons Jersey , 26, will be facing the Padres for the first time this season although he will be making his third career start against the Padres. He has a 1-0 record with a 1.26 ERA over 14 1/3 innings in his first two outings against the Padres. He shut out the Padres on three hits and two walks over eight innings in 2016.

Like Ross, Taillon will also be making his 17th start of the season. After starting the season 2-0 with a 0.89 ERA in his first three starts, Taillon has gone 3-6 with a 4.87 ERA in his last 13 starts. But he has won each of his past three road starts Roberto Luongo Jersey , giving up four runs in 21 innings.

The biggest plus for Taillon Sunday could be the sunlight. He is 9-2 with a 2.87 ERA in 17 career day games and 4-0 with a 1.93 ERA in five daylight starts on the road.

The NHL trade deadline is always one of the funnest times of the year because we see a plethora of players on new teams. It is always fun waiting to see what your favourite team is going to do. Most of the time we as fans never are completely satisfied. The deadline also is one of the hardest times of the year for many teams. It is a time for them to decide if they want to win or sell. The past few years have brought on some pretty massive deals Jimmy Howard Jersey , but most of the time, the teams that make them do not win. With that said, it is important for teams to be very careful when bringing in rental players. The golden rule is to never rid yourself of a first round pick, unless you are getting a true star. The Minnesota Wild learned this last season when they traded for third liner Martin Hanzal.

With that said, in this article we will be looking at eight stars who will be traded this offseason and eight duds as well. Most of the players on the move are rentals, so them being traded is extremely likely. Yet, this list will also have players on rebuilding squads who are looking to unload players who have term on their deals. Some of these moves may seem like long shots, but crazier things have happened聽at the deadline. At the end of the day, this trade deadline will provide us with a lot of trades that will make us either happy or very upset. Yet, that is the beauty of the day and no matter what happens, it will be extremely fascinating.

With that said, let鈥檚 take a look at the guys on the move!

Adrian Peterson’s short stint in Arizona is over. Jordy Nelson long and productive stay in Green Bay has ended, too.

Meanwhile Zach Werenski Jersey , Drew Brees is staying put in the Big Easy, Case Keenum is headed to the Rocky Mountains, and Kirk Cousins will make his first visit as a free agent to Minnesota. The Vikings long have been considered a natural landing spot for one of the most valuable quarterbacks available.

One day before the league’s new year begins, veteran running back Peterson was released by the Cardinals on Tuesday, and receiver Nelson – Aaron Rodgers‘ favorite target – was let go by the Packers.

Seven-time All-Pro running back Peterson began last season with New Orleans but, after barely playing there, was dealt to the Cardinals. Peterson rushed for 134 yards in a win over Tampa Bay and 159 in a win over San Francisco. In six games, he gained 448 yards on 129 carries for Arizona before being sidelined with a neck injury.

Peterson, who turns 33 next week, ranks 12th in the NFL in career rushing with 12,276 yards.

Nelson had 550 receptions and 69 touchdown catches in 10 seasons in Green Bay. But his production declined last season with Rodgers sidelined much of the year by a collarbone injury. He missed the 2015 season with a major knee injury, and then was the 2016 Comeback Player of the Year.

”We cannot thank Jordy enough for all that he has given the Green Bay Packers and our community for the past 10 years,” general manager Brian Gutekunst said. ”He has been an exemplary professional and teammate and greatly contributed to our success.”

Brees has agreed to a two-year http://www.officialblues.com/authentic-adidas-dmitrij-jaskin-jersey , $50 million extension with New Orleans, with $27 million guaranteed the first year, two people familiar with the contract told The Associated Press. They spoke on condition of anonymity Tuesday because the agreement has not been announced.

Brees is 39 and wants to finish his career in New Orleans, where he has played since 2006, won a Super Bowl and led what has been one of the most productive offenses in the NFL since he and coach Sean Payton arrived.

”I’ll be here as long as they’ll have me,” Brees said after last season ended.

In 2017, Brees completed an NFL-record 72 percent of his passes for 4,334 yards and 23 touchdowns against eight interceptions. He ranked fourth in the NFL in yards passing and the Saints ranked second in the NFL in total offense.

Keenum, a backup when the season began, guided Minnesota to the NFC North title and then into the conference championship game. He’ll cash in with the Broncos.

The 30-year-old Keenum is considered the second-best QB available in free agency after Cousins. He went 11-3 with 3,547 yards passing, 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions. His last-second throw to Stefon Diggs stunned the Saints 29-24 in the playoffs.

Denver chose to bypass incumbents Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler and Paxton Lynch and go for Keenum Authentic Oscar Lindberg Jersey , who can’t sign until Wednesday.

Six years ago, GM John Elway landed Peyton Manning, the biggest free-agent prize in NFL history, following his release by the Colts and a series of neck fusion surgeries. Manning guided the Broncos to two Super Bowls and won the 2015 NFL championship. Now, Elway hopes another free agent will replicate Manning.

Cousins will visit with the Vikings on Wednesday, agent Mike McCartney said. ESPN reported that Cousins will sign with the Vikings, but McCartney said no decision has been made yet by his client.

The Jets and Cardinals also made sense as fits for the 29-year-old who played consecutive seasons for Washington on franchise tags. New York, however, re-signed last year’s starter, veteran Josh McCown, and Arizona made a deal with Minnesota’s Sam Bradford.

In other moves:

– Super Bowl champion Philadelphia lost two tight ends, cutting veteran Brent Celek, then saw Trey Burton agree to a four-year Calvin de Haan Jersey Kids , $32 million contract with Chicago. Five-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Haloti Ngata and linebacker Corey Nelson have agreed to one-year contracts with the Eagles.

The Bears also will be signing Jacksonville receiver Allen Robinson on Wednesday and kicker Cody Parkey.

– Tennessee agreed with New England cornerback and one-time Super Bowl hero Malcolm Butler on a five-year deal worth more than $60 million. Agent Derek Simpson told The Associated Press that Butler will sign the deal including $30 million guaranteed once free agency begins.

Butler spent the past four seasons with the New England Patriots and has eight career interceptions. He was benched for the Super Bowl in February.

– Buffalo bolstered its interior defensive line, agreeing to a deal with Carolina tackle Star Lotulelei and re-signing Kyle Williams, who contemplated retirement.

– Kansas City will add wide receiver Sammy Watkins and middle linebacker Anthony Hitchens, filling two glaring needs.

The 24-year-old Watkins intends to sign a $48 million, three-year contract with $30 million in guarantees, while the 25-year-old Hitchens agreed to a five-year deal, two people familiar with their decisions told the AP. The Chiefs have needed to pair a playmaking wideout with Tyreek Hill. Watkins, the 2014 fourth overall pick of the Bills, spent last season with the Rams, where he caught 39 passes for 593 yards and eight touchdowns.

– Receiver Albert Wilson is closing in on a $24 million, three-year deal with the Dolphins. Miami traded top receiver Jarvis Landry to Cleveland and has a need. They also are near an agreement with Patriots receiver Danny Amendola.

The Dolphins also cut linebacker Lawrence Timmons after just one season with them. Timmons went AWOL on the eve of last ye Tennessee Titans Elite Jerseys

The Dolphins will upgrade their practice facility within the next four years Jesper Bratt Jersey Kids , and team officials are considering a move to Miami, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

The Dolphins have trained at the facility at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida, since 1993.

The Davie complex also serves as home to Dolphins training camp. The Dolphins facility has undergone renovations and improvements, including the addition of an indoor practice field in 2006.

The team leases the land, and terms and length of the lease are unknown, per Beasley.

News about a new Dolphins’ practice facility was included in a 2026 World Cup bid book submitted by the North American partnership. FIFA is expected to choose between North America and Morocco’s bids on June 13.

Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan remembers all too well the last time New Orleans entered a season with a lot of hype.

The Saints seemed like a good bet to make the playoffs for a fifth time in six seasons back in 2014. Instead, they stumbled to a 7-9 record in what became the first of three straight frustrating, sub-.500 campaigns before they won the NFC South last season.

"Everyone's going to talk about potential. Everyone's going to talk about, 'on paper,' how good we look http://www.officialsenators.com/authentic-adidas-mike-hoffman-jersey ," said Jordan, an All-Pro in 2017 with a career-high 13 sacks. "We've been here before. We've seen this a couple years ago, when we looked great on paper. Paper doesn't play Sunday."

The schedule seemingly sets the Saints up to win a season opener for the first time since 2013 this Sunday, when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

New Orleans has nearly all key players back from a squad that came within a "Minnesota Miracle" of advancing to the NFC title game. Now the Saints are eager to move on from the 61-yard Vikings touchdown they gave up on their last play of last season.

The Bucs, by contrast, are coming off a five-win campaign that extended their decade-long playoff drought and must play without starting quarterback Jameis Winston, who is serving a three-game suspension .

Oddsmakers have made the Saints one of the most heavily favored NFL teams 鈥?by more than a touchdown 鈥?in Week 1.

"We recognize what kind of a football team New Orleans has," Tampa Bay coach Dirk Koetter said. "We're going to go out there and do everything we can to give it to them on Sunday."

And why not? The last time these teams met, in their 2017 regular season finale, the Bucs won in an upset.

Here are some key subplots that will play out when the Bucs and Saints renew their divisional rivalry:

PREMIER MATCHUP: Bucs receiver Mike Evans is one of three players in NFL history 鈥?along with A.J. Green and Hall of Famer Randy Moss 鈥?to have 1,000 yards-plus receiving in each of the first four seasons of a career. Evans figures to be covered by Saints cornerback Marshawn Lattimore Authentic Teuvo Teravainen Jersey , last season's NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.

"I look forward to the matchup," said Evans, who was suspended one game last season for a blindside hit on Lattimore.

Bucs quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, starting for Winston, doesn't sound inclined to look away from Evans just because of who is covering him.

"When you have a guy like Mike Evans, he's going to get his balls," Fitzpatrick said. "There is nobody that I am really going to shy away from, no disrespect to anybody, just because the talent level Mike has."

SUSPENDED STARTERS: Each team is coping with the suspension of a prominent offensive player.

The Saints are without Pro Bowl running back Mark Ingram, their leading rusher last season with 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was suspended four games for use of a banned substance. That raises the possibility that Offensive Rookie of the Year Alvin Kamara will play more snaps Bobby Ryan Jersey , but Kamara was careful not give away anything on that front.

"The way our team is trending, we're an unselfish group," Kamara said. "If my touches are low, then it is what it is, if that's what we have to do to win."

Winston begins a three-game suspension stemming from an eight-month NFL investigation that concluded he touched a female Uber driver inappropriately in 2016.

"At this point, it's like any other injury that a guy's out for three weeks," Koetter said.

ROSTER TURNOVER: One of Tampa Bay's top priorities was revamping a pass rush that produced a league-low 22 sacks a year ago. In addition to acquiring former New York Giants star Jason Pierre-Paul in a trade , two other new starters on the defensive line 鈥?Vinny Curry and Beau Allen 鈥?signed as free agents after helping the Eagles win the Super Bowl. Defensive coordinator Mike Smith said Pierre-Paul had a good training camp and has been everything the Bucs expected in terms of his drive to learn the scheme and make it tough for coaches to sub him out.

"The guy doesn't want to come off the field," Smith said. "He's a guy that's played, when's he's been healthy, 90-plus percent of the snaps on defense. That is unheard of a lot of times in the NFL."

The Saints spent the bulk of their efforts in free agency trying to improve a defense that ranked 17th Jack Johnson Jersey , bringing in linebacker Demario Davis, safety Kurt Coleman and cornerback Patrick Robinson. Meanwhile, receiver Cameron Meredith is expected to make his debut for an offense that ranked second a season ago, while tight end Ben Watson returns after a couple of seasons with Baltimore.

GOOD RATINGS: Saints quarterback Drew Brees had a 121.1 passer rating against the Bucs last season, his best rating against any team in 2017. But Brees quickly dispenses with the notion that he has Tampa Bay's number.

"We know how competitive this team is regardless of what their record said last year," Brees said. "They've got a lot of really good players on defense. They went out and made some pretty significant moves through free agency and in the draft.

"It's going to be a tough, tough test."

The Green Bay Packers are keeping more quarterbacks than running backs on their season-opening roster.

Undrafted free agent Tim Boyle made the roster as the third quarterback behind starter Aaron Rodgers and backup DeShone Kizer. Green Bay's initial 53-man roster lists just Jamaal Williams and Ty Montgomery at running back.

In a bit of a surprise Markus Granlund Jersey , veteran fullback Aaron Ripkowski was released. Running back Aaron Jones will also start the year on the reserve/suspended list after the NFL suspended him for two games for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Eight receivers made the opening roster, including all three drafted rookies as well as undrafted free agent Jake Kumerow. He impressed Rodgers early in camp before hurting his shoulder.

The Packers added to an already deep tight end group by keeping Robert Tonyan, who was a practice squad player last year, behind Jimmy Graham, Marcedes Lewis and Lance Kendricks.

Notable moves on defense include cutting linebacker Vince Biegel Cal Clutterbuck Jersey , a fourth-round draft pick last year out of Wisconsin whose rookie season was mired by a foot injury. The Packers are keeping just four outside linebackers, with Reggie Gilbert and Kyler Fackrell backing up veterans Clay Matthews and Nick Perry.

Inside linebacker Antonio Morrison made the roster after being acquired last week from the Colts. Cornerback Quinten Rollins was placed on injured reserve, while veteran backups Demetri Goodson and Josh Hawkins were released.

Backup safety Marwin Evans, who played in all 32 regular-season games over the last two seasons, was also cut.

Question: When is a unanimous vote not unanimous?

Answer: When there’s no vote at all.

No Jakub Vrana Jersey , this isn’t a Matrix-style exercise in whether or not there is a spoon. (Then again maybe it is.) It’s an example of the kind of casual white-lying that has somehow become accepted as appropriate, as long as helps achieve a specific strategic goal.

Seth Wickersham of ESPN.com reports that the supposedly unanimous vote on the new anthem policy wasn’t unanimous after all because there wasn’t a vote.

“[T]here was no official vote for the anthem resolution,” Wickersham said on Twitter. “League execs polled owners and knew how they鈥檇 vote but didn鈥檛 hold an official vote, atypical for such a major resolution.”

Wickersham also reports that Raiders owner Mark Davis abstained from the non-vote vote, in the same way 49ers CEO Jed York did. Given Jets CEO Christopher Johnson’s aggressive position on the issue (he said he’ll pay the fines imposed by the league if players protest during the anthem Authentic Alexander Radulov Jersey , but that he won’t fine or discipline the protesting players), it’s fair to wonder whether he also abstained from the non-vote vote. Or whether he non-vote voted no in the non-vote vote.

Regardless, there was no unanimity. There was no vote. And this becomes further proof that, in its quest to make things better when it comes to the national anthem, the NFL actually made things worse.

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Browns escaped a preseason quarterback swap.

Tyrod Taylor isn’t expected to miss any time — and is still in line to start the Sept. 9 season opener against Pittsburgh — after dislocating his left pinky and bruising his hand in Thursday’s 5-0 win over Philadelphia.

Taylor’s injury initially appeared serious after he awkwardly landed on his non-throwing hand and wrist while bracing his fall after firing an incomplete pass on fourth-and-goal. He immediately grabbed his hand and ran to the sideline before being taken to the locker room for treatment and evaluation. He returned and played in three more series.

“Tyrod had a dislocated pinky but obviously they were able to get that back in place real quickly Womens Devante Smith-Pelly Jersey ,” coach Hue Jackson said on a conference call Friday. “It takes 15 seconds to do that. He has a bruised hand. He’s sore. But he’s going to be fine.”

Taylor’s hand was wrapped as he made an appearance at a men’s apparel store Friday night. He was relieved the injury wasn’t serious, and said he’s dealing with soreness but plans to practice Saturday.

“Everything came back negative, which is a good sign and we were able to put the finger back in place,” he said. “It’s my left hand, at the end of the day. So deal with it. It’ll be sore for a couple of days, but it’s nothing that’s going to stop me.”

Taylor said the doctor had some trouble putting his finger back into place.

“I tried to be tough about it,” he said. “I tried not to look at it. I saw that it did dislocate, but I tried to look away and let him do his thing. They’re professionals. They know what they’re doing when it comes to that stuff. It didn’t pop back as quickly as I wanted it to.”

Jackson also said he doesn’t expect rookie starting cornerback Denzel Ward to miss “much time, if any” because of back spasms. Ward, the No. 4 overall pick, got twisted while tackling Eagles tight end Zach Ertz.

Jackson said he hasn’t decided if the first-team offense will play in next week’s exhibition finale at Detroit. Jackson wants his starters to get as much time together as possible and is still considering playing them against the Lions.

The 29-year-old Taylor is in his first season with the Browns, who acquired him from Buffalo in a trade in March to stabilize a problematic position. Taylor will start until top overall pick Baker Mayfield is ready, and the Browns will gladly put that off until next season.

Taylor has been a model mentor to Mayfield so far, and the eight-year veteran has impressed everyone with his work ethic and attitude.

The Browns seemed caught off guard that Taylor Tyler Toffoli Jersey , who stayed in the locker room for the second half on Thursday, left FirstEnergy Stadium before speaking with reporters.

Taylor did post a thank you to Cleveland fans for their prayers on Twitter and said he was “doing well.”

Jackson said there was relief that Taylor wasn’t more seriously hurt.

“Well, I definitely got the final thought that he was going to be fine when we decided to put him back in,” Jackson said. “Obviously, when (head trainer) Joe Sheehan came back, he said ‘Everything is fine. There are no issues. He can go back in.’ Obviously, the player was very excited to go back in the game. Again, I felt he needed to, because our offensive football team at that time needed to play together.

“They needed his leadership. He needed to be out there playing with them. I think it is important for them to develop that chemistry, so I felt comfortable that when we put him back out there, things were OK. Obviously, when he was not there and he was inside before he came back, all kinds of thoughts go through your head. But I feel good about where he is and what he will be able to do in the future.”

NOTES: WR Josh Gordon will participate in walk-throughs over the weekend and it’s possible he’ll practice. The former Pro Bowl receiver has only been allowed to attend meetings, work on the side with trainers and watch since returning from a self-imposed absence in training camp. Gordon Anthony Duclair Jersey , who was on the sideline Thursday night, has played in only 10 games over the past four seasons because of suspensions from drug violations. … Rookie Genard Avery (hip) will be sidelined “some time” but has not been ruled out of the opener. Avery had a strip-sack on the Eagles’ Nick Foles. … Starting S Damarious Randall sat out against the Eagles after a knee locked up during warmups. Jackson said he was held out as a precaution.

Kevin Durant continues to deliver in the postseason for the Golden State Warriors.

He scored 37 points on Monday night to lead the Warriors to a 119-106 win in the long-awaited showdown with the Houston Rockets in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals.

But if it were up to him, he would have done even more.

Durant wasn’t happy with coach Steve Kerr when he took him out in late in the third quarter and loudly asked his coach why he was putting him on the bench. Durant, who played just more than 40 minutes, was asked if he’d prefer to play the entire 48 minutes.

”Probably so,” Durant said.

Kerr acknowledged that he should have left him in at that point and raved about his performance after his fourth 30-point game this postseason.

”This is why anybody would want him on their team … I don’t know what you do to guard him,” Kerr said. ”He can get any shot he wants.”

Starting a playoff series on the road for the first time since 2014, the Warriors trailed by as many as 9 early, but had evened it up by halftime and used a big run at the beginning of the fourth quarter to pull away.

”We’re in the Western Conference finals they are going to come out with a lot of energy,” Durant said. ”We’re going to take that first punch and keep punching.”

Game 2 is Wednesday night in Houston.

Eric Gordon opened the final period with a 3-pointer to get the top-seeded Rockets within 4, but Thompson scored the first eight points of a 13-4 run to make it 100-87 with about eight minutes left.

Houston used a 9-3 spurt, where James Harden scored five, to cut the lead to 103-96 with less than five minutes to go. But Thompson struck again, hitting a wide open 3 to leave the Warriors ahead by 10 with four minutes left.

Harden scored 41 to lead the Rockets Casey Cizikas Jersey , who lost at home for the second time this postseason.

”You’re not going to come in and just knock them out,” Houston coach Mike D’Antoni said. ”There were too many times where we had mental lapses. We didn’t switch properly, turned the ball over and missed too many layups. We need to do a better job of staying up mentally.”

Now the Rockets are left to regroup after losing their leg up in the homecourt advantage they worked all season for.

”It’s nice to have home court,” D’Antoni said. ”(But) we don’t have it. Now we’ve got to go get it.”

Steph Curry added 18 for the Warriors, who are in the conference finals for a franchise-record fourth straight time. It’s Houston’s first trip since 2015 when Golden State won the series in five games.

”I think he’s going to get even better as the series goes on, which is good for us,” Kerr said of Curry.

The Warriors, who are the second seed in the West, opened a playoff series away from Oracle Arena for the first time since 2014 when they lost to the Los Angeles Clippers 4-3 in the opening round.

Houston struggled to slow down Durant all night, and things got even worse when Trevor Ariza picked up his fifth foul with about 10 minutes left in the third with Golden State up by 3. Durant made two baskets for the Warriors around one by Chris Paul that left the Warriors up 73-68 a couple of minutes later.

”He’s one of the best scorers ever,” D’Antoni said of Durant. ”I thought he was extremely good. But we can withstand that. We can’t withstand turning the ball over and giving up so many wide open 3s.”

Gordon added a layup for Houston after that, but Golden State scored the next six points, with a 3-pointer from Thompson, to make it 79-70 with about 4 1/2 minutes left in the third.

Houston ended a scoring drought of more than two minutes with a dunk by Harden seconds later and the Warriors followed with another run TJ Brodie Jersey , scoring six straight points to extend it to 85-72 with just more than two minutes left in the third.

The Rockets rediscovered their offense after that, scoring the next eight points, powered by 3s from Gordon and Gerald Green, to get within 85-80 with about a minute left in the quarter.

Durant added two free throws to close out the quarter and leave the Warriors up 87-80 entering the fourth.

”Houston, they never stop,” Durant said. ”They are always in the game with 3-point shots. We try to get good shots every time down and defend on the other end.”

TIP-INS

Warriors: Curry extended his NBA playoff record by making at least one 3-pointer in his 80th straight playoff game. … Draymond Green received a technical early in the first quarter when he pushed Harden after a shot. … Curry missed his first free throw of the playoffs in the third quarter after making all 19 attempts in the first two rounds.

Rockets: Paul added 23 points and 11 rebounds. … Clint Capela had 12 points, six rebounds and two blocks. … Gordon added 15 points off the bench.

THEY SAID IT

Draymond Green on getting the technical so early: ”I was a bit overzealous, a bit amped up, but I’d rather that any day than coming out flat.”

The Latest on the NFL concussion settlement (all times local):

5:10 p.m.

Lawyers representing former NFL players in their concussion claims estimate payouts from the settlement with the league will likely reach $1.4 billion.

The lawyers filed a status update Wednesday saying an actuary estimates the approved payouts to date and the number of players who had filed to be a part of the settlement are outpacing any previous estimate. The actuary says participation rates are 21 percent higher than estimated when the settlement was reached.

The $400 million increase in estimated payout came after a judge Wednesday denied for now a request from the league to appoint a special investigator to look into what the league said was extensive fraudulent claims against the settlement fund.

Judge Anita Brody says Elias Lindholm Jersey , as of now, the audit process seems to be appropriately ferreting out and denying those claims.

3:40 p.m.

A federal judge has denied a request from the NFL to appoint a special investigator to look into what the league says is extensive fraudulent claims on the $1 billion concussion settlement.

Judge Anita Brody wrote in her ruling Wednesday that the league's attorneys have demonstrated that there is "sufficient evidence of probable fraud to warrant serious concern." Brody says the already in place special master and claims administrator have effectively ferreted out those claims.

The league cited an independent study it said found more than 400 claims had been recommended for denial based on evidence of fraud by attorneys, doctors and former players attempting to cheat the program.

Plaintiffs' lawyers say they support Brody's decision, noting more than $485 million has already been approved for valid claims.

In a salary cap world Authentic Gustav Nyquist Jersey , it鈥檚 of utmost importance that you get value out of the majority of your contracts. Before the salary cap was implemented as a result of the 2004-05 NHL lockout, general managers only had to answer to their owner (boss). If you were fortunate enough to be a GM of one of the wealthy teams, well, you could pretty much use that advantage to lure all the best free agents to your team.

I remember when Rangers GM Glen Sather used this to his advantage http://www.officialcoyotes.com/authentic-adidas-clayton-keller-jersey , and although it didn鈥檛 lead to on-ice success, you pretty much knew where all the top pending UFAs were heading before free agency even hit.

Canadian hockey teams have the most passionate fans, so their team salaries often get inspected under a stronger microscope than those of most American teams (with a few exceptions, of course). Today I took the liberty of combing over the salaries that are on the books for 2018-19 and chose the best one and the worst one for each Canadian team.

Sadly Zach Werenski Jersey , the Jets and the Maple Leafs were the only Canadian teams to make the 2018 postseason, and it鈥檚 sort of easy to see why that is when you look at the other five team homepages on cap friendly. The Jets and Leafs (Jets especially) have tons of value contracts, and the rest of the clubs have very few. See for yourself; oh, and for a 15th bonus entry Jakob Silfverberg Jersey , I identify the Canadian club with the biggest cap issues moving forward:

The NFL was invited to offer testimony before Congress during a hearing on sports betting that was scheduled for next Tuesday Authentic Dougie Hamilton Jersey , but the hearing will not be taking place as planned.

David Purdum of ESPN.com reports that the House Judiciary Committee has postponed the hearing titled “Post-PASPA: An Examination of Sports Betting in America.” PASPA stands for the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, which was struck down by the Supreme Court in a May ruling that made it possible for states previously barred from legalized sports betting to legalize it.

In a statement released after that ruling, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said that the league would like Congress “to enact uniform standards” for states rather than have up to 50 different standards in the 50 different states.

Sports books have opened in New Jersey and Delaware since the Supreme Court ruling with other states expected to make similar moves in the near future.

Rockets star Chris Paul is among many in the Houston sports world offering condolences to the families affected by an area school shooting that left 10 people dead.

Paul says: ”It’s tough Nikita Kucherov Jersey , man. It’s scary that that’s become the norm here. We’ve got to do something about it.”

The shooting in Santa Fe, which is about 30 miles from downtown Houston, comes after 17 people were killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Nathan MacKinnon Jersey , Florida, in February.

Houston Astros manager A.J. Hinch, who has two school-aged daughters and was with the Astros at training camp in Florida at the time of the Marjory Stoneman shooting Niklas Hjalmarsson Jersey , expressed anger that these shootings continue to occur.

He says: ”It’s heartbreaking, another senseless act of violence in our schools. We’ll copy/paste this answer for the next time something happens because we feel like there’s something happening on a routine basis that’s idiotic and terrible and miserable. I hope we can somehow find a way to get past it for one, offer our condolences to the people affected and more importantly figure out a way to stop this madness.”

The Astros issued a statement Friday offering prayers to those affected by the shooting. They added that they’d hold a moment of silence in their honor before Friday night’s game against Cleveland and that the Texas flags at Minute Maid Park would be flown at half-staff.

Astros pitcher Lance McCullers Authentic David Desharnais Jersey , who said he is working on a plan to help a student who was among the 10 people wounded in the attack, says something has to change to stop this from happening again.

He says: ”I just feel like there’s got to be some sort of solution. My heart goes out to the families and the kids who shouldn’t even have to worry about something like that.”

The Houston Texans also issued a statement sending condolences to the victims and thanking first responders and law enforcement who helped in the wake of the attack.

The Washington Wizards went cold in the final quarter of their final game of the regular season – and it cost them.

The Wizards shot 5 for 25 in the fourth quarter and 34 percent for the game Authentic Connor Brickley Jersey , losing 101-92 to the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night and finishing eighth in the Eastern Conference playoff seeding.

”We just couldn’t make any shots tonight. Nobody had a shot fall consistently other than Jodie (Meeks),” coach Scott Brooks said. ”The Magic made the plays when they wanted, when they needed to, and we didn’t. They played better than us tonight.”

Meeks came off the bench with five 3-pointers to score a game-high 18 points for Washington, which lost five of its final six games. A win would have pulled the Wizards (43-39) up to seventh place and a first-round playoff series against Boston. Instead, they will play Toronto in the opening round.

”I was telling the guys in the locker room that we don’t condone any losses, but we throw this one out. We move on,” said Bradley Beal Youth Tyler Pitlick Jersey , who scored 13 points. ”We shot ourselves in the foot. We have done it all year.

”Now we are the eighth seed and we just have to go and compete.”

Rodney Purvis scored 16 points to lead Orlando, while Mario Hezonja finished with 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

Arron Afflalo hit five of six shots in the second quarter in leading Orlando to a 55-45 halftime lead.

Washington regained the lead early in the fourth quarter, but a 3-pointer by Purvis put Orlando ahead to stay at 84-81. After a layup by Beal pulled the Wizards to within two at 86-84 with 4:34 left, they went more than three minutes without scoring while Orlando pulled ahead by 10.

Brooks decided to rest guard John Wall, who had played 36 minutes in Tuesday night’s win over Boston.

”Let’s face it, any time you lose one of the best players in the league, it puts your team in a tough position Drew Stafford Jersey ,” Brooks said. ”We’re a different team with him, like any team would be. He’s dynamic, he’s explosive, gets easy points for all of us.”

Easy points weren’t easy to come by Wednesday night.

”To see us take a playoff team that needed a win and hold them to 34 percent shooting, I’m very proud of that,” Magic coach Frank Vogel said.

The Magic (25-25) played the second half without Aaron Gordon, Nikola Vucevic, D.J. Augustin and Bismack Biyombo Youth Christian Djoos Jersey , who combined for 26 points and 10 rebounds in the first half.

”It doesn’t mean much, but it’s always better than losing,” Vucevic said.

Magic forward Marreese Speights was ejected with 8:59 left in the third quarter after elbowing Marcin Gortat in the face while both were walking up the court. A double technical was called on the play.

BATTLE-TESTED?

Gortat said the Wizards are confident first-round underdogs. ”We have a team with a lot of veterans. We’ve been playing together a long time and we have been in big battles in the past,” he said. ”We need to play our game with a lot better effort than we did today.”

The Oakland Raiders have officially signed free agent linebacker Derrick Johnson to a one-year contract.

Coach Jon Gruden had said last week the sides agreed to terms and the contract became official on Monday. Oakland waived defensive back Darius Hillary to make room on the roster.

The Raiders also signed three players following tryouts at rookie minicamp over the weekend. Oakland gave deals to former Texas running back Chris Warren, Michigan fullback Henry Poggi and tight end Paul Butler from California of Pennsylvania.

Oakland cut running back Elijah Hood Jonathan Huberdeau Jersey , defensive lineman Joby Saint Fleur and fullback Nick Sharga. Hood was a seventh-round pick last year and played one game as a rookie.

The 35-year-old Johnson spent his first 13 NFL seasons with the rival Kansas City Chiefs and will likely fill the role at middle linebacker that NaVorro Bowman played the second half of last season.

Johnson is a four-time Pro Bowler and the career tackles leader for the Chiefs. He appeared in 182 games with 169 starts since being drafted in the first round in 2005. He has 1,262 tackles, 27 sacks and 14 interceptions in his career.

While the Bengals defense settles in to learn a new system during training camp Derick Brassard Jersey , linebacker Vontaze Burfict is just passing through town.

He'll miss the start of the season for a third year in a row, this time on a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancers. It's a conundrum for the Bengals , who have remained loyal to Burfict despite his history of misconduct and suspensions.

His absence will be especially noteworthy this year as the Bengals adjust to a new defense under first-year coordinator Teryl Austin.

When camp opens with the first practice on Thursday, they'll be teaching him the system while also preparing everyone else to play without him for the first month.

"Unfortunately, we're probably too experienced at it," coach Marvin Lewis said.

The results so far haven't been all that encouraging.

Burfict was suspended for the first three games in 2016 because of his history of egregious hits during games Paul Stastny Jersey , including his blow to Antonio Brown's head during the Steelers' first-round playoff victory the previous season. The Bengals lost two of three and finished with a losing record.

Last year, Burfict got another three-game suspension from the league for his egregious hit on Kansas City's Anthony Sherman during a preseason game. Undeterred, the Bengals gave Burfict a three-year contract extension and got off to an 0-3 start and another losing season.

Burfict is one of the most vocal leaders on the defense. He'll practice with the team until the preseason ends and his suspension begins, preventing him from being around the team for a month.

"We're going to miss the heck out of Vontaze," cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick said Wednesday.

Coaches liken it to missing an injured player, though it's not an exact comparison. When a player gets hurt John Klingberg Jersey , someone else steps into the job full time. In this case, the Bengals have to get the defense on the same page of the new playbook, while also getting it ready to function without one of its leaders for a significant part of the season.

They signed linebacker Preston Brown to a one-year deal in March, bringing in a player from Buffalo who can help them get through that first month without Burfict.

"We have to have the other guys assume the leadership, the communication, everything that way Braydon Coburn Jersey ," Lewis said. "He's such a dominant personality that we almost have to stifle him in order to do that."

Lewis declined to say whether he would hold Burfict out of the preseason games, as he's done in the past when the linebacker faced a season-opening suspension. Austin plans to give Burfict a lot of practice time.

"I anticipate him practicing like nothing is going on and then when we get toward the end and he has to take a break, then he has to take a break," Austin said.

Burfict will miss the season opener at Indianapolis followed by a Thursday night home game against AFC North rival Baltimore and road games against Carolina and Atlanta. He can return for an Oct. 7 game against Miami at Paul Brown Stadium, which is followed by another home game against the Steelers.

He has a history of getting back to speed quickly after returning from a suspension.

"One thing to his credit: He's been able to come back to playing as though he's been playing football," Lewis said.

"If we say he's going to play 20 snaps Nikita Kucherov Jersey , he plays 40. If we say 30 snaps, he plays 50. He won't come out once he's in there, and then all he'll do afterward is tell you guys how he's winded and we made him play too much. But he's the one who won't come off the field."

Maine’s collegiate Nordic ski championship had to take a detour around a bear den.

Officials say the den with a hibernating mother bear and two cubs was discovered Saturday near the race course during the event in Presque Isle, Maine.

Colby head coach Tracey Cote said the race had to be delayed 30 minutes so that the women’s race course could be changed. The men’s race already had been completed.

Colby won the overall competition to claim the Chummy Broomhall cup.

The race honored the two-time Olympian and decorated World War II veteran who was instrumental in bringing skiing to Maine. Broomhall died on Dec. 30 at age 98 in Maine.
